Galicia Shines in Barcelona: An Evening of Excellence and Glamour

Barcelona, 11 July 2025. Glam Brunch Magazine had the privilege of attending the 20th edition of the prestigious "Títulos de Excelencia Galega 2025" Awards—an annual gala that has become a beacon of pride, identity and excellence for the Galician community in Catalonia and beyond. Organised by the Association of Galician Entrepreneurs of Catalonia (AEGA-CAT), the event honours remarkable individuals who shine in their fields while proudly carrying the essence of Galicia in their hearts.

The ceremony, hosted with elegance and warmth by the charismatic Marta Doviro, brought together some of the nation’s most influential political, business, scientific and cultural figures. Notable attendees included: Alfonso Rueda, President of the Xunta de Galicia; Alberto Núñez Feijóo, President of the People’s Party; Miguel Ángel Santalices, President of the Galician Parliament; Carlos Prieto, Delegate of the Spanish Government in Catalonia; Raquel Gil, Fifth Deputy Mayor of the Barcelona City Council; and Dr Ana Pastor, former Minister of Health of Spain, whose career is a testament to public service and dedication.

Also present were some of the most prominent names in the business world, such as Amancio López Seijas, President of AEGA-CAT and Grupo Hotusa; José Antonio Castro, President of Grupo Hesperia; Carlos Fernández, CEO of Filmax; Enrique Tomás, the renowned entrepreneur who brought the excellence of Spanish ham to the world stage; and basketball legend Audie Norris, whose presence added a spark of admiration and international acclaim to the evening.

Among the evening's most admired personalities was basketball legend Audie Norris, whose presence brought a sense of grandeur and international prestige to the gala. Revered for his sportsmanship and legacy on and off the court, Norris captivated attendees with his warmth, humility, and enduring influence as an ambassador of excellence. His participation underscored the universal language of achievement, bridging cultures and generations with the same elegance that defined his career.

This special edition of the awards celebrated eight exceptional individuals across the categories of Arts, Science and Medicine, Sports, Communication, Finance and Business. Among the honourees: singer-songwriter Amancio Prada, whose music connects tradition with contemporary emotion; Professor Juan Enrique Domínguez-Muñoz, a pioneer in Spanish gastroenterology; footballer Iago Aspas and the historic Real Club Celta de Vigo in Sports; journalist María Rey for her commitment to truthful reporting; Francisco Botas, CEO of Abanca, representing financial leadership; Antonio Parente, a driving force in pharmaceutical innovation at GP Pharm; and the Galician Parliament, which received the Extraordinary Award for Excellence.

One of the most heartfelt highlights of the night was the appearance of Carmen Cazcarra, a visionary entrepreneur who began her career at just 17. After working in theatre and television, she founded Spain’s first Personal Image School. Over 24,000 students have passed through her academy, leaving an indelible mark on the global beauty and fashion industry.

For Glam Brunch Magazine, this event was not just a celebration, but a tribute to the enduring spirit of Galicia—its culture, heritage and capacity to lead with authenticity. Representing the Glam Brunch Club, founders Dolores Couceiro and Patricia Curty were joined by business leaders such as Gaspar Antón and Toni Ruiz Gallardo, alongside an inspiring group of female entrepreneurs from the Glam Brunch Women’s Business Club. These included Sorelle Carina, Carmen Pérez, Silvia Salmeron Tolosa, Chela Mazaira, Mari Carmen Moreno, María Dolores Benzal, Lola Martínez Lora, Natalia Morkuntsova and Tania Askenazi, all of whom embody the vitality and mission of the club.
